Building a Brighter, Better Future

MEET DAVID
BUILDING A BRIGHTER, BETTER FUTURE
David grew up in Southern Indiana and graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering. After college, he served in the U.S. Army as a Chemical Officer for 7 years at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, where he met his wife Meg. After leaving the military in 1991, their young family moved to Jefferson County and David went to work for the Dow Corning Corporation in Carrollton, KY where he worked for over 13 years. Upon moving to Jefferson County, it did not take long for David to volunteer as a little league soccer coach, and he was instrumental in helping the Southwestern Recreation Association (SWRA) establish their soccer program. In 2004, Dow Corning offered a compressed work week which allowed David to volunteer in classrooms at Southwestern High School in Hanover. By January of 2005, his interest to do more to help the students in the community reached a point that he decided to leave his engineering career and become a teacher at Southwestern High School. While teaching, he taught classes in chemistry, physics, and high school engineering and was the middle and high school soccer coach. In June of 2018, David returned to a full-time engineering career at the Dow Chemical Corporation in Carrollton, KY.

David and Meg are the proud parents of four children, Joe, Michael, Stuart, and Elizabeth. Joe and his wife, Emily, live in Louisville with their son, and Joe is an officer in the Kentucky National Guard. Michael is an officer in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Stuart and his wife, Olivia, live in Madison. Stuart is employed with Bulk Truck and Transport (BT&T) in Hanover. Elizabeth graduated with a Nuclear Engineering degree from Purdue University and currently works for GE in Wilmington, NC. Meg and David have been married for 37 years this year and have been involved in many activities throughout the community. They are active members of the Remnant Reformed Baptist Church in Scottsburg.

David has always had an interest in serving, be it for family, military, church, students, or community. It was a natural transition for him to serve Jefferson County when asked to represent the Lower District as Commissioner.
After securing the office of commissioner in the 2016 election, David has worked to fulfill the promises made during his campaign.
